FIRE DESTROYS MOBILE HOME

At 5 a.m. Firefighters were still working an active fire that totally destroyed a mobile home in the Los Colinas Mobile Home Park. A woman reportedly escaped the blaze but a man and a dog are reportedly missing and thought to have been inside the residence.


The fire started a few minutes before 2 a.m. Chief Keady checked the call dispatch records recorded in Redding as calls come in and are dispatched. He was at Hudson and Main when the call went down and records show that he was on sce
ne within two minutes.


Firefighters and management from Burney, Cassel and Cal Fire in Johnson Park were on scene and actively controlling the blaze. Besides Keady who was in charge, those firefighters included two retired fire chiefs and a captain with Burney Fire, the Cassel Fire Chief, and two "White" helmets from Cal Fire.


The coordinated effort saved the two neighboring homes, one occupied residence within 10 feet had the outside melt from the heat, but the fire itself was contained to the one home.


Two deputies arrived on scene sometime after the fire was knocked down, but not out.


Firefighters were still putting out hot spots and trying to remove fallen timbers and sheets of smouldering siding at 4 a.m.

It was related at approximately 6 a.m. that on the Los Colinas Fire that the victim has been found but firefighters are still trying to remove the collapsed roofing.
