Board Planning to Ignore Law

Filed under: Uncategorized — waltblog @ 7:26 pm

ALL RIVER MILLS — The agenda for the Fall River Valley Community Services District as posted Friday evening, and still on their web site Sunday afternoon, shows that the Board of Directors will be asked to discuss the General Manager’s proposed contract in closed session, in direct violation of the Ralph M. Brown Act.
That contract was negotiated in closed session also in violation of the law.
The Mountain Echo sent a certified letter once again explaining that it was a criminal act in direct violation of the Government Code and demanding that the Directors not violate the law.
Editor Walt Caldwell also plans to hand deliver copies of the letter to each director present at the meeting and the general manager at their Tuesday night meeting.
The Ralph M. Brown Act specifically leaves salary negotiations out of the items that can be discussed in closed sessions.
So far the board and their manager have ignored that portion of the law. “Yet they claim they have transparency and are open to the public.” says Caldwell.
