DILLON, MT – A former Burney/Fall River area man was killed by a stray bullet while hunting in the woods west of Dillon, Beaverhead County Sheriff Jay Hansen said October 23. 56-year-old Edward Anderson of Superior and his father-in-law Bud Cotham were hunting in the Black Mountain Area where other hunters had been hunting earlier according to KRTV.com, when the accident occurred. The victim’s motherin- law, Sandy Cotham reported the two men as several hours overdue shortly after 5 p.m. and a family friend reportedly found Cotham who reported that Anderson had failed to return to the starting point as they had planned. Cotham pointed out Anderson’s direction of travel and Hansen found the body. His body was found approximately ¼ of a mile from their vehicle The Missulian reports. It also reported that the bullet was examined and could not have come from Anderson’s or anyone in the hunting party’s weapons. The body was taken to Brundage Funeral Home in Dillon.
