BURNEY – A young Black Bear, estimated to weigh 200 pounds was spotted wandering around several neighborhoods. Mike and Marilyn Cottonaro spotted it behind their home in Los Colinas Mobile Home Park at the western edge of Burney around 11:30 a.m. and Diane Ward got pictures and a video as itwandered past her home and into the woods on the eastern edge of the park.
At 2:55 p.m. Ray Metcalf called the Sheriff ’s Department to report that a brown bear was in his front yard on Bartel Street on the south side of town, approximately a half mile from the Los Colinas Mobile Home Park. His wife, Raylene, described the bear as being brown, young and approximately 200 pounds. It wandered off and they lost sight of it.
