Modoc County Sheriff Mike Poindexter announced last week that the body found in Surprise Valley July 1 had been positively identified as that of missing Likely man Dewey McGarva (pictured above).
According to Poindexter, the State Department of Justice was able to photograph a palm and match the print with previous prints in the Sheriff ’s files.
McGarva was reported missing March 4 by his brother. Family and friends started and maintained a campaign to find him. That effort included raising $10,000 and offering it as a reward for finding McGarva.
